Terms of Service for KnowLine

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the KnowLine mobile application ("the App," "KnowLine"), provided by GoldLine Developers ("we," "us," "our"). By downloading, installing, or using KnowLine, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Description of Service
KnowLine is a mobile application that lets you identify objects, read and translate text, scan barcodes/QR codes, and ask questions about images or by voice, using a combination of on-device processing and cloud-based AI (Google Gemini API). You may share or download AI-generated answers as branded images. Some features are free; others may require watching a rewarded advertisement or, in the future, a paid subscription ("KnowLine Pro").
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher — for example, this may be a higher age under laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) to use KnowLine. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree that you will not use KnowLine to:
- Generate, request, submit, or attempt to process any content that is illegal, including but not limited to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), content that sexualizes or exploits minors in any way, or content facilitating grooming or child exploitation.
- Generate, request, or submit content depicting or promoting terrorism, extremist violence, or the planning of violent acts against people.
- Submit content intended to harass, threaten, defame, or incite violence against any individual or group.
- Attempt to use the App to generate instructions for creating weapons, explosives, or other materials intended to cause harm.
- Attempt to bypass, probe, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the App's content safety filters or usage limits.
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the App outside of normal human use, including to abuse the rewarded-ad credit system.
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable local, national, or international law.
- Upload or submit content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others.
We reserve the right to immediately and permanently block, restrict, or terminate access for any device or user found violating this section, without prior notice and without obligation to provide a refund of any purchased credits or subscription.
4. Content Moderation and Safety Systems
KnowLine uses automated safety systems (including Google Gemini's built-in safety filtering, Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch, and our own pre-processing filters) to detect and block prohibited requests before they are processed. We do not manually review the content of your photos or questions except as strictly necessary to investigate a suspected violation of these Terms or in response to a valid legal request.
Where legally required, we cooperate with law enforcement and regulatory authorities, including reporting content that constitutes child sexual abuse material to the appropriate authorities (such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the United States, or equivalent bodies under applicable law).
5. User Content
You retain ownership of any photos or text you submit to KnowLine. By submitting content to the "Ask AI" feature, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to transmit that content to our backend and to Google's Gemini API solely for the purpose of generating and returning a response to you. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not claim ownership over anything you submit.
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any photo or content you use with the App (for example, photos of documents or items that may be subject to third-party rights).
6. Free Tier, Ads, and Subscriptions
- KnowLine's free tier includes certain on-device features (text recognition, object detection, barcode scanning, translation) at no cost and without ads.
- The "Ask AI" feature on the free tier requires watching a rewarded advertisement (via Google AdMob) to unlock a limited batch of questions.
- We may introduce a paid subscription tier ("KnowLine Pro") offering additional usage limits and features. If introduced, subscription terms, pricing, and billing will be handled through Google Play Billing and will be subject to Google Play's own terms in addition to these Terms.
- We reserve the right to change the free-tier usage limits, ad requirements, or subscription pricing at any time, with reasonable notice for existing subscribers where required by law.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
KnowLine is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that:
- AI-generated responses (via "Ask AI") are accurate, complete, or reliable. You should not rely on KnowLine's AI responses for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions.
- The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
- On-device features (OCR, object detection, translation) will achieve perfect accuracy for all images or documents.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GoldLine Developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App, including but not limited to damages resulting from reliance on AI-generated content, loss of data, or unauthorized access to your device.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including certain consumer protection laws).
9. Third-Party Services
KnowLine relies on third-party services, including Google Firebase, Google Cloud, Google Gemini API, and Google AdMob. Your use of the App is also subject to the applicable terms of these third-party providers. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of these third-party services beyond our integration of them.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to KnowLine at any time, with or without cause, including for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles, except where mandatory local consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction require otherwise.
